Kunstporten is an app for mobile phones and IPOD that focused on involving children and youth in active explorations of art. The app is developed based on a ‘head up’ proposed by Nancy Proctor – where the app has the function of supporting interaction between visitors and the art. This as opposed to ‘head down’ engagement with the phone. The seven art museums each developed an engagement trajectory for an art work in their museum, and developed various ways to engage young visitors; games, puzzles, detective work etc.

The Kunstporten app was launched summer 2013 and is currently used in the museums.

Phase 2 in the project started autumn 2014 – and explores practical forms of involvement of youths in developing the texts and interactions and thinking re-design of the app.
